Activate your account
Are you using a @radboudumc.nl account?
You are all set to access the DRE environment!
The DRE, for now, runs on infrastructure of RadboudUMC, which ensures that all @radboudumc.nl accounts are already added to the Active Directory.
Are you using any other type of account?
As an external user, you first need to be added to the RadboudUMC Active Directory. Only when you request a workspace, or someone else invites you to theirs, you receive an e-mail from the Data Stewardship team to sign up for DRE. Follow the steps below to activate your DRE account.
Did you not receive an e-mail? Make sure you check your spam folder. Contact the Core Support Team if you cannot find the sign-up e-mail.
Sign-up e-mail for external accounts
In the e-mail from the Data Stewardship Team, click on Sign up to create your account. You will be redirected to webpages from Microsoft. Follow their instructions to activate your DRE account.
Below, we also explain all the steps one-by-one.
The e-mail address which you have been invited on, must be coupled to a Microsoft account to use the DRE platform. If this is already the case for your e-mail address, you skip the steps to create a Microsoft account, and you start by connecting your account to DRE (step 7 below).
Otherwise, if your account is not yet coupled to a Microsoft account, you will be directed to do this first. No worries! It just take a few extra steps. Start at step 1 below.
Create a Microsoft account
Some e-mail accounts do not yet have an associated Microsoft account, so you need to take care of this first.
Step 1. Click on Next.
Step 2. Fill in a password and click on Next.
Step 3. Fill in your country and date of birth, and click on Next.
Step 4. Go to your e-mail inbox (of the address with which you're signing up) and copy the confirmation code you have just received from Microsoft.
Step 5. Go back to Microsoft webpage, fill in the confirmation code and click on Next.
Step 6. Fill in the Captcha-symbols and click on Next.
Connect your account to DRE
Radboud UMC needs to add your Microsoft account to their DRE directory.
Step 7. Click on Accept.
Step 8. Click on Next.
Set up 2-Factor Authentication
To use DRE, you are required to set up 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your account. 2FA means that you cannot log in with just your e-mail address and password. For extra security, you also need to confirm your log-in with your phone. Follow the instructions below to set up 2FA.
Step 9. Select Mobile app in the dropdown menu, and select Receive notifications for verification under ‘How do you want to use the mobile app’. Then press 'Set up'.
Step 10. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, if you have not done so before.
Step 11. Go to your Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, and press + in the top-right corner.
Step 12. Follow the steps shown on your computer, and when finished click on Next, then again click on Next.
Step 13. Fill in your phone number and click on Done.
Step 14. If asked to confirm, go to your Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, and click on Approve again.
Step 15. Select your account.
