Downloading files

In the DRE portal, go to the workspace where the files are located. Click on the Files tab and select the file(s) you want to download.

Tip: Press and hold the Ctrl button on your keyboard to select multiple files. The Select options also allow you to toggle the select mode.

With all desired files selected, click the Create download request button. The download request will then be sent to the owner(s) of the workspace for approval.

If you are the owner of a workspace, you will receive an automatically generated email with a link to view and to approve or reject a request. The researcher who requested the download will automatically be notified when an owner has approved or rejected the request.

Once approved, the file(s) can be downloaded through the Data requests page.

Downloading folders

At the moment there is no feature to download folders. Therefore, a workaround is described here. Follow these steps to download complete folders:

Open a virtual machine that has access to the file share that contains the folder you wish to download. Go to the the folder's location in the file explorer, right-click on the folder and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a .zip file that is treated like a single file and can therefore be downloaded as described above.

Once downloaded, the .zip file can be unpacked by right-clicking on it and choosing Extract here/Hier uitpakken.

Tip: if you create a .zip file from a folder as described above, unpacking the file will give you the exact same folder or folder structure. If you create a .zip file from multiple files, it is recommended that you unpack it to a (new) dedicated folder so your files will not be scattered around the download folder.
